As of October 2026, Chiron is between visits to Taurus: it first entered Taurus on 19 June 2026, retrograde motion carried it back into Aries on 17 September 2026, and it returns on 14 April 2027; it stays until 19 July 2033, and leaves for good on 5 May 2034. Before that, Chiron first entered Taurus on 28 May 1976 and, because retrograde motion carried it back and forth across the sign's boundary, entered it three times in all before leaving for good on 11 April 1984. After this pass, Chiron returns to Taurus on 29 April 2077.

Chiron in Taurus: context

Chiron is a modern body, unknown to Hellenistic astrology, and it was found in Taurus. Charles Kowal identified it on 1 November 1977 on plates taken at Palomar on 18 October, when it stood at about 3°49′ Taurus. It was the first known centaur, a small body orbiting among the giant planets. After it showed a comet-like coma in 1989 it also received the comet designation 95P/Chiron.

The "wounded healer" reading astrologers give Chiron was developed after the discovery, in books such as Melanie Reinhart's Chiron and the Healing Journey (1989). About one 50-year orbit later, this pass brings Chiron back to its discovery degree on 25 June 2027, 21 September 2027 and 17 April 2028 (UTC).

How Chiron moves through the zodiac

Across 1800–2100, Chiron spent about 1.6 years to 8.3 years in a sign on each pass, not counting retrograde dips out of it, and it returned to the same sign about every 50 years. 85% of passes included at least one retrograde dip back over a sign boundary.

How these dates were found

With Horoskopos's sky search: Chiron's geocentric, apparent, tropical ecliptic longitude, computed with the open-source Astronomy Engine library, with each sign boundary found to the minute. Sample ingresses agree with NASA JPL's Horizons ephemeris to within about two and a half hours. Chiron is computed from orbital elements bundled for 1800–2100, so its dates are limited to that span.
