Uranus in Taurus: context
Uranus is a modern planet, discovered by William Herschel in 1781 and unknown to Hellenistic astrology, so the old texts give it nothing in Taurus. Traditionally Taurus is Venus's house and the Moon's exaltation, at 3° (Ptolemy, Tetrabiblos I.17, I.19; Dorotheus, Carmen Astrologicum I.2). Its triplicity lords are Venus and the Moon, with Mars (Carmen I.1).
Herschel found Uranus near the star Zeta Tauri, in the constellation Taurus, but in the tropical zodiac it was then at about 24° Gemini. Tropical signs are measured from the March equinox, not from the constellations of the same names, and the dates on this page are tropical.
